Concord Grape Lavender Jam Recipe: A Perfect Blend of Sweet and Floral

As the fall season settles in, there's nothing quite like the rich, sweet taste of Concord grapes paired with the delicate floral notes of lavender. At Oak Lore Farm, we love experimenting with ways to bring our farm's harvest into your kitchen, and this Concord Grape Lavender Jam recipe is the perfect way to do just that.

By using lavender powder, you’ll create a smooth, luxurious jam that’s ideal for spreading on toast, pairing with cheeses, or even glazing meats. This recipe is easy to follow and yields a fragrant, delicious jam that your family and friends will love.

Ingredients:

  • 3 lbs Concord grapes (about 6 cups)

  • 2 cups sugar (adjust to taste)

  • 2 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice

  • 1/2 tsp lavender powder (adjust to taste) (Oak Lore Farm Lavender Powder)

  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Grapes:

    • Remove grapes from their stems and separate the skins from the pulp by squeezing the grapes between your fingers. Set the skins aside.

    • Place the grape pulp (including seeds) in a saucepan over medium heat. Add 1/2 cup of water and simmer for 10 minutes until the pulp breaks down.

    • Press the pulp through a sieve to remove the seeds.

  2. Cook the Jam:

    • In a large saucepan, combine the grape pulp, grape skins, sugar, lemon juice, and lavender powder.

    • Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring frequently.

    • Simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the jam thickens.

  3. Test for Doneness:

    • Place a spoonful on a chilled plate. If it gels and holds, your jam is ready.

  4. Jar the Jam:

    • Ladle the hot jam into sterilized jars, leaving 1/4 inch of headspace.

    • Process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes to seal if storing long-term.

  5. Cool and Store:

    • Let jars cool completely before storing. Refrigerate once opened and enjoy within a few weeks.

Yield: This recipe makes about 4 to 5 half-pint (8-ounce) jars.
